Umbilical Line is Out - And That Means We Can Hold Him!

They took the line out of his umbilical artery today which means we are now allowed to hold him a few times a day if he doesn't get upset.

Here he is sitting with mommy while he eats (still through the feeding tube). When he gets fussy and we can't calm him down sometimes it helps to get away from the world (see below).

Breathing On His Own!!!

When we went to the NICU this evening we walked in to find the respirator was gone! Our little guy was breathing on his own...still getting oxygen but breathing on his own!

He was much happier without the respirator and he had his eyes open!

James Holds Mommy's Hand

We got to touch him today and he held mommy's hand for a little while!

Ventilator

Hopefully it comes out soon, but for now Jamie's got a tube breathing for him. His chest doesn't do the scary cave-in while it's there (or after it's gone, that's the plan) so that's good. He usually has the cloth over his face because he doesn't like light and his eyes are still pretty swollen and shut.

James Henry Junkel Is Here!!

James was born on Monday April 26th, 2010 at 1:06pm weighing 5 pounds 4 ounces. He's pretty small and will be in the NICU getting strong for a while but here are the pictures we have so far:


James was doing well enough for mommy to hold him on her chest for a while.


Here he is crying...he pinked up a little once he got to screaming!


He calmed down a little bit...lots of nice dark hair on his head!


Here is James just a few moments after he was born...he was a little blueish.

Walk a Mile

Charlie likes to wear Daddy's shoes.

It requires a lot of looking at the feet.

Racing

This is Charlie's new favorite activity: car racing. It's a little difficult, because Owen sticks his ball in the way (we're crawling on the floor. Why would be there if not to play with Owen?)

Rough Morning

Had to show you Charlie's first big boy injury: skidding into the hearth. No doubt similar wounds will arise from bicycles and roughhousing.

But it doesn't have to be flat. Any surface will do.




This is my new favorite picture. Charlie loves to push the wagon, and he loves to make Owen be involved in things.
