Strong Girl

Lucy was sitting, having some post-bath nakey time, and leaned over to pull the mat on top of her. It was not very close - she has a long reach.

Lucy Talks

This is a video of Lucy babbling to herself. I took it quickly while she wasn't paying attention, or she would have stopped. Even when she wasn't watching me, she stopped bababa-ing, which she did before and after. Camera shy, I suppose.

The best part you can't see: when I watched it, she stopped talking to smile at that other baby who was making noise ;)

Bicyclists

Daddy got a new bicycle and its accouterments. Charlie is very stylish in a helmet.

and Jamie in some gloves (which are technically for shooting, not bicycling.) He wore these for a long time, play cooking in them.

Playtime: A Story

Lucy was playing with the helicopter. Small motions make it make noise, and she liked it.

Jamie was playing with the train, wearing his hat. "Take a picture of that train," he said, using all those words because he's quite a master of the article now.

Then we had to take a picture of Jamie (and his dirty face), because he wanted to see himself. Aren't digital cameras fun?

Then he knocked all the blocks all over. Lucy liked that, too, since none hit her.

But she put a proprietary hand on the helicopter. Jamie tried to steal it earlier and whoever talked about taking candy from a baby never mentioned that it might be easy to take but it's impossible to take stealthily. Lucy was displeased and told us so, noisily.

But those blocks look pretty interesting. Maybe we could have both?

New Playground

As Jamie did this himself, I'm sure it will happen again. Also, Charlie took a pretty good photo.

Jamie Reads to Lucy

This is the book that recorded Grandma Patti's voice reading the story, so all they have to do is turn the pages. Jamie wants Lucy to hear the story.

Food, take two

 Lucy seems hungry, so I thought I'd try food again. Seven months now!

This time avocado, and she seemed to enjoy it more. She still didn't swallow right and choked, but I think we'll try again - this time it seemed like inexperience rather than outright rejection.

We tried again and there was even less choking! Real swallowing, big girl :) I wanted her to be able to gnaw a little and put some food in her own mouth, so I gave her some mum mum.

Are you supposed to give them to your baby on eating: day two? Probably not. But she's seven months and wants to chew, but can't have big enough pieces of avocado to chew on. She can't choke on the rice rusk. And she liked them, this picture notwithstanding.

Bath

 Lucy can now sit up in the bath. Sometimes she topples, but she doesn't want to lie down any more.

She likes to play with the cups and chew on the washcloths.

Boys' Adventures

 The boys wanted to eat their supper outside one night.

Why, yes, it seems Jamie is not wearing clothes. He gets wet and muddy outside and takes them off.

Then we got out all the books to sort them. I also did a rough count, there are about 200.

Please I Cuddle Lucy?

For the first time, Lucy looks happy to be cuddled.

And it does seem like Lucy's head might be bigger than Jamie's.

Lucy Plays

Look at the madness Lucy has to deal with lying on the floor. Owen's after his ball, Jamie's dancing around, you can't see Charlie next to her also lying on the floor.

Better sit up!

Look how much her sitting has improved in the last few days. Much better posture and she can sit longer too.

Isn't this a great look for Lu? And she loves shaking the beads and watching them. Fun times.

Food

As Lucy is now six months and sits pretty well, we thought we'd try food. Carrots! She didn't put them in her mouth, so I helped.

Hmm, what's that? First there's curiosity.

Then there are no more pictures because she refused to swallow, it fell into her throat, and she choked until I picked her up and pounded her back. Guess we're not ready for food!

Church Clothes

I liked that last comparison post so much I want to do it again! But this time with the boys. Here's Jamie in his church overalls:

Doctor

We went to the doctor last week for Jamie's two year and Lucy's six month visits.

Jamie weighed 23 lb 13 oz and was 32 in tall. They checked his cholesterol and it's in good shape - let's hope it stays that way!

Lucy weighs 14 lb 9 oz and is 24 in tall. 

Both kids are healthy and are small for their age but are the same relative percentage they were before. Somebody's got to be little!

Lucy Swings

 Yesterday, we went to the park and Lucy tried the swings. She liked it so much we did it at home!

The sound she makes in the middle of the video is her talking/laughing and she does it a lot. We've got another talker :)

Snuggle Puppy

Lucy loves the book Snuggle Puppy. She sits happily while I read it over and over. She likes to look at it herself too.  Here she's engrossed.

What was that bright light?
